The Secret of Gratitude
Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. It is impossible to feel depressed and grateful at the same moment.
Challenge 1: Adopt the attitude of gratitude. Create a daily reminder on your phone and write down the following message: "Today I am thankful". Before you move on with your day you must think of one thing you are thankful for. It can be as simple as thanking your eyes for allowing you to see. The goal is to try to put you back into a grateful state of mind.
Challenge 2: Write down your gratitude. Start your own "Be thankful" note on your phone. Everyday for the next 30 days write down three new things you are thankful for. By writing three new things every day for the next 30 days you can literally re-wire your brain to start scanning the world for not the negative, but for the positive first.
Challenge 3: Show your gratitude. After starting challenge 2, take action. Pick one thing on your list everyday and show your gratitude. If you chose to thank your eyes, show them gratitude. It can be as simple as eating foods that have nutrients for your eyes, or watching something you enjoy. Silent gratitude is like wrapping a gift and never giving it.
Of all the attitudes one can acquire, it's the attitude of gratitude that can be the most important and life changing. You simply will not be the same person two months from now after consciously giving thanks each day for the abundance that exists in your life. And you will have set in motion an ancient spiritual law: the more you have and are grateful for, the more you will be given.
