Oh my God You’re Such a Millennial
Gosh, I don’t know about you, but I feel like I hear millennial shade anywhere I go. And my question is WHY? Does the older generation believe the internet has caused us to lose our ability to feel? HAHA! I laugh because I am honestly being a little dramatic.
In all seriousness, I do hear things from time to time, and I’m just like, yeah? I feel like my generation “the Millennials” have been going through the struggle of adulthood, and we would appreciate it if we could shed light on the positives of our age.
I have definitely been feeling the struggle of adulting. I had this idea that once I graduated college, I would be at my dream job making enough money to be able to move out on my own. Well, I didn’t receive that right away, but I worked to get there despite feeling defeated. Once you are out on your own, you begin to realize the little things you took for granted.
Let’s make a nice list of all the things I miss now that I am living away from parents:
Tissues - Girl I can use toilet paper or paper towels for that… but also why do I buy paper towels when I can just use toilet paper to wipe my hands at the sink.
A Constant Supply of Groceries - Yes I do go grocery shopping, but to be honest I try to go once a month because I don’t like it and feel like it’s a waste of my time. When I run low on groceries, I wait till I reach the bare minimum before going out again. Lucky for me I just snack away while at work because it's provided.
Having an in-house repairman - My dad was so handy when it came to being handy around the house. He took care of the yard, construction, cleaning, and more. He was the legit super dad. Now I can’t even fix a loose screw because I don’t have/don’t want to buy a screwdriver to fix them!
Having an in-house Chef - On the opposing team we have my mom always cooking in the kitchen and making sure the house looked tidy. And on top of that… the woman works as a travel agent. Talk about a bad bitch.
Not Worrying about Dem Bills - I admit it, I did not have to pay for very much when living under my parent's roof. I was very fortunate in those regards. But as of recently, I have been covering most if not all of my expenses. And is it tough? OH YEAH especially paying for rent and other little things that pop up. No more mommy and daddy forces you to work for the money! Remember money = freedom [unfortunately]
I must say living away from the rents has been the most incredible experience and I wouldn’t trade it for any of the above… well, maybe the constant supply of groceries. FEED ME! Despite that feeling of living paycheck to paycheck at least I am LIVING. Take the risk if you are at the point where you feel you need to separate from your parent or guardian, you’ll be happy you did!
